TERROIR

It begins with the land itself.

TERROIR sits atop a gentle hill on Awaji Island, where ocean and sky unfold without obstruction. Here, openness is not just spatial but sensory—wind, light, scent, and taste converge into a singular experience.

An over-250-year-old storehouse was relocated and reborn as part of the architecture, blending history with a new sensibility. Within its walls are a distillery, a wood-fired kitchen, and spaces that invite you to engage with the environment—plucking herbs, distilling aromas, and cooking as the wind moves through the windows.

TERROIR’s philosophy is not about escaping, but reconnecting. It seeks to awaken what is inherent in the land:
the minerals carried from the sea,
the warmth of sunlight on your skin,
the rhythm of wind through grasses.

Here, a stay is not merely lodging—
it is a dialogue with place.

Away from the pace of everyday life,
you don’t just witness nature—you become attuned to it.

And that is the quiet story of TERROIR.
